Time attack racing has become one of the fastest growing and most popular forms of Motorsport in the world. From experienced professionals to fresh faces, it welcomes all to attend and try to set the fastest time they can with their chosen vehicle! Mitsubishi GSR / Evo Club Inc have grown the Time Attack scene in South Australia to where it is today.
We recently had the pleasure of attending the CI Performance Parts SA Time Attack event at the Bend Motorsport park. With many cars and spectators carrying over from the previous day's top quality GT Sprint event it promised to be an exceptional event and it delivered.
When entering the new $120 million dollar (and counting!) purpose built track we headed straight for the pits to see who had stayed from the GT Sprint event and which new cars had arrived to take their shot at besting their class in the Time Attack category. The first of these cars being Paul Henshaw's CCC Racing RB28 powered 240Z.

We decided to ask Paul a few questions about his 240Z, especially since we had not seen any other car like it so far that day. Running an RB28 built by PMC Race Engines in Victoria with a BorgWarner EFR 8374 Turbo hanging off the side, this car was sure to delight. Paul finished the day in 7th with a 2:06, stoked about his time and his performance on this brand new track, he had nothing but good things to say.

Next we checked out a car that was very near and dear to our hearts. Not only because they are from our neck of the woods, but because Joshua Coote has the same taste for the 86 chassis as we do.
From it's humble beginnings as a car to test suspension on, the MCA Suspension Toyota 86 has become a monster. Following in the footsteps of its big brother, the MCA Hammerhead S13, it has been given a full aero treatment, a crazy engine set up and some of the best suspension on the market.
Josh ended the day with a time of 1:56.7, placing him in 2nd for the Open class and making him the fastest rear wheel drive car on track.

Last but certainly not least was Jake Jones, the Drift Squid.

Jake is usually one for drifting however he was able to enter the Pro class in his RB Powered BMW and snag a 2:22 time which he was stoked about! While the awesomely loud blast pipes hanging out the back didn't signify a conventional time attack car, Jake was still happy to get out there and told us he will be back for more!

The CI Performance Parts SA Time Attack delivered quality Motorsport and an enjoyable atmosphere to go along with it. The consensus from the drivers was that the track is indeed world class and they cannot wait to get back out there next time and set some even faster times.
